I started this blog...

as a way of compiling all my families favorite recipes all together in one place.
My daughter asked me if I would write down a certain something I make so
she has it when she grows up and has a family. I thought that was a good idea,
so I decided to combine all our favorites and make one big book. It will be a
work in progress and a way for me to ORGANIZE all the recipes stashed in
the cupboard. And I've realized, I like taking pictures of food!

Frappe

This recipe comes from my mom. She made this a lot for Christmas when I was growing up. It is so good. Very refreshing and festive for the holidays.
To 1 cup boiling water add 2 c. sugar and boil together for 3 minutes.
Dissolve 1 envelope Knox Gelatin into 2 T. cold water. Add to syrup after removal from stove.
Add 3 cups cold water, a pinch of salt, 1/4 c. lemon juice, 2 c. unsweetened pineapple juice and a drop or two of food coloring (red, green or whatever). Freeze.

Shortly before serving, mash with potato masher and add 3 lg. (qt. sz.) 7-up or Sprite.
Serves: 20 cups
