I started this blog...

as a way of compiling all my families favorite recipes all together in one place.
My daughter asked me if I would write down a certain something I make so
she has it when she grows up and has a family. I thought that was a good idea,
so I decided to combine all our favorites and make one big book. It will be a
work in progress and a way for me to ORGANIZE all the recipes stashed in
the cupboard. And I've realized, I like taking pictures of food!

Tiajuana Torte

I've had this recipe a long time. When I was a 7th or 8th grader, an assignment from my home ec teacher was to put together a recipe box with a certain amount of recipes inside. This is one that has been in there since then.
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1 (15 oz.) can diced tomatoes
1/2 pkg. taco seasoning
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
corn tortillas
cheddar cheese, grated

Cook hamburger. Add onion and saute until translucent. Add tomatoes, sauce and seasoning. Simmer 15 minutes. In a 13x9 casserole dish, place half of the meat mixture, layer of broken tortillas, layer of cheese. Repeat layers. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
